This Child Development/Preschool program is where I made my decision to pursue a career in education.
I was a senior at Westfield High School and decided to pursue an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education at Holyoke Community College. I transferred to American International College and majored in Elementary Education and Special Education, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in those majors. I worked at American International College for fourteen years, teaching Psychology and Education courses and worked with learning disabled college students in the Supportive Learning Services Program. During those years I attained a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from American International College.
I became the Director of The Preschool at Church of the Atonement while my husband and I raised our two daughters. My position lasted eleven years until I became a teacher at Westfield High School.
While I have had the privileged of two separate and wonderful positions during my career, I find that my current position combines all my experiences as the Child Development II Teacher and the Children’s Corner Laboratory Preschool Director. I have the pleasure of working with the high school students who may also decide to pursue a career in working with young children after their extraordinary experience in this rewarding program.
You can reach me at d.auclair@schoolsofwestfield.org
I can be reached during the day at 572-6285. Please leave a message on the Children’s Corner Laboratory Preschool phone and I will return a call as soon as possible.
I can be located in room 101
